Now that the dry season is here, there is no better way to spend the weekends than outside, enjoying all that the Top End has to offer. Here’s our top picks of where to take the whole family for your next outing. 

Mindil Beach Sunset Markets 

For a laid-back weekend activity, you can’t go past the iconic Mindil Beach Markets. Held every Thursday and Sunday from April through October, this local favourite is just a short drive from Zuccoli. Hosting over 200 specialty stalls and food vendors, it’s a truly unique experience — bursting with flavour, colour and energy. Enjoy international street food, live music, handmade crafts, and the unbeatable view of the sun setting over the water. Bring a picnic rug and make an evening of it with the whole family.

V8 Supercars – 20th to 22nd June 2025

Rev up the excitement with the return of the V8 Supercars to Darwin! Held at Hidden Valley Raceway, this adrenaline-filled weekend draws thousands of fans each year and is a major highlight of the dry season. Beyond the track, enjoy a vibrant atmosphere with live performances from Aussie music icons Shannon Noll on Saturday night and The Screaming Jets on Sunday . With a variety of food stalls, family-friendly activities, and the excitement of motorsport, it’s an unmissable event for all ages.

Darwin Festival – 7th to 24th of August 2025

If you’re not already planning on visiting the Darwin Festival, it’s a must do this year. Held in the heart of the city, across 18 days of activity, Darwin really turns it on with this massive celebration of music, arts and culture – featuring both emerging locals and well-known Aussie favourite acts. It’s an event for all ages with a program that offers a little something for everyone. This year’s lineup is shaping up to be a winner with headliners including the Festival Harbour Cruise, Family Fiesta and Guy Sebastian.

Darwin International Film Festival 11th to 21st of September 2025

The Darwin International Film Festival brings the city to life with visiting filmmakers, gala premieres and live entertainment. It’s all about showcasing vibrant diverse stories from around the world right on the banks of the city. The festival starts on the 11th of September and runs through to the 21st, featuring some of the best cinema from around the world. The outdoor cinema venue is set against the backdrop of Darwin’s epic sunsets – alongside the buzzing local food scene, this is definitely one to put on the list. 

Mario the Magic Maker – 22nd to 23rd of October 2025

If you’re looking to try something a little different Mario the Magic Maker is worth exploring. The half comedy, half magic show brings big laughs and clever tricks to a high-energy, 2-hour performance. It’s a high-energy two-hour performance, sure to keep the whole family entertained. The show will be held at the Darwin Entertainment Centre on October 22 and 23 and is suitable for all ages so can keep the whole family entertained.

This one’s likely to be a crowd favourite so book ahead to secure your seats.
