What’s on near Zuccoli: August Edition

Can you believe we’re already in August?! We can’t! This month Darwin Festival takes over with an explosion of music, theatrical performances and a celebration of all things that make Darwin the unique and amazing place it is!

Kids Club Spectacular

Fri 9 August

Hosted by Lisa Pellegrino, join a colourful crew of funmakers for a range of kids entertainment that shares and celebrates all that we love about Darwin!

Kids Club Spectacular is a variety show jam-packed with live music, dance, comedy and circus performances. Delivered in a fun and inclusive format, everyone is welcome to be part of the club!

Regional Combined Therapies are taking part to provide a low sensory space to allow for families to continue to enjoy the show if sensory overload occurs. The team at RCT will also provide spaces that include low light and sound alongside soft and safe spaces to experience the performances at your own pace.

Luminous Productions

Thu 8 – Sat 10 August

This magical adventure for all ages will take you through the wonder of the seasons in the Top End through the life of a seed pod.

This production was created on Larrakia country and honours the traditional Larrakia seasons. POD is brought to life through projection, puppets, live improvised music and an interactive set which audiences are invited to explore for a more immersive experience.

Performances

Various shows throughout from 8th to 25th August

The line up of the festival includes some big names and fan favourites boasting the likes of Missy Higgins, The Cat Empire, Kate Miller Heidke and the renowned Ilbijerri Theatre Company’s production of “Big Name, No Blankets”.

Be sure to check out the Darwin Festival website for the most up to date event and ticketing information for these shows.

National Indigenous Music Awards

Sat 10 August

The National Indigenous Music Awards (NIMAs), presented by MusicNT, celebrate two decades of First Nations musical brilliance.

The NIMAs are an annual highlight of the rich diversity of Indigenous music from across Australia – celebrating both emerging talents and established international sensations like Gurrumul and Jessica Mauboy.

Held annually on the traditional lands of the Larrakia people in Darwin, gather under the stars at the historic Darwin amphitheatre for a night of musical excellence, ambiance and unforgettable performances.
